WHAT IS BQ COACHING?

BODY INTELLIGENCE (BQ)

BODY INTELLIGENCE (BQ)

Your body is giving you information all the time. Do you know how to read it?

A tightening in your jaw. A change in your breathing. The urge to pull back.

A sudden burst of energy. The feeling that something isn't quite right, even when you can't explain why.

These aren't random experiences. Your body is constantly responding to what's happening within you and around you. The challenge is that most of us were never taught how to notice those signals, understand what they might be communicating, or use that information intentionally.

That's where Body Intelligence comes in.

A CONSCIOUS RELATIONSHIP

What is Body Intelligence?

sensation-breath-DkTF6pQj.jpg

Body Intelligence (BQ) is the ability to notice, understand, and use the information your body is constantly giving you.

It's about developing a conscious relationship with your physical experience, your breath, posture, movement, sensations, energy, and presence, and learning how that information can help you navigate stress, relationships, decisions, change, and everyday life.

BQ brings together body awareness, nervous-system literacy, emotional awareness, mindfulness, and practical action.

And this isn't about becoming hyper-aware of every sensation in your body.

Your body isn't an infallible oracle telling you exactly what to do.

Your body is data.

Sometimes that data reflects what's happening right now. Sometimes it reflects an old pattern, protective response, expectation, or learned way of moving through the world.

Developing BQ helps you become skilled enough to notice the difference.

That's where awareness becomes discernment.

THE FOUR THREADS

The BQ Framework

My Body Intelligence framework is built around four interconnected threads.

Because your relationship with your body doesn't happen in isolation. It happens within you, around you, between you and others, and through the choices you make.

01

LISTEN IN

AWARENESS · REGULATION

Start by turning your attention inward. Notice physical signals, sensations, shifts in energy, changes in your breath, and those intuitive nudges that are easy to dismiss. What are you noticing right now? What might your body be responding to? The goal isn't to automatically believe every sensation or instinct. It's to become curious enough to notice the signal before it becomes a reaction. This growing awareness gives you more information, and more opportunity to regulate before stress takes the wheel.

02

NOTICE OUT

EMBODIMENT · PRESENCE

Your body doesn't exist in a vacuum. Pay attention to what's happening around you, and how your environment is landing in your body. What changes when you walk into a room? How does your body respond to another person's energy, tone, posture, or presence? How are you showing up physically? Your posture, movement, facial expression, voice, breath, and energy all communicate. Embodiment is where your internal experience meets the world around you. As you become more aware of that interaction, you can become more intentional about the presence you bring into a situation.

03

CONNECT THROUGH

RELATIONAL IMPACT · ALIGNMENT

We affect one another. Your body responds to other people, and other people's bodies respond to you. This is where Body Intelligence expands beyond self-awareness into relational intelligence. How do you affect the people around you? How do they affect you? What happens in your body during conflict, connection, uncertainty, or closeness? Learning to notice these patterns gives you more choice in how you communicate, listen, lead, set boundaries, and connect. The goal isn't to control the interaction. It's to become more aware of the relational dance happening between you.

04

CHOOSE CHANGE

ACTION · TRANSFORMATION

Awareness is powerful. But awareness alone doesn't change a pattern. This is where we bring the body into the process of change. Through movement, posture, breath, nervous-system resets, and other embodied practices, you experiment with creating a different physical experience—and therefore a different set of options for how you respond. Because sometimes you don't need another insight. You need a different experience. This is where transformation moves from something you understand intellectually to something you can actually embody.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why does BQ matter?

sensation-tension-C-O8Bc-u.jpg

Because your reactions often begin before you're consciously aware of them.

By the time you notice yourself snapping, shutting down, overthinking, saying yes when you mean no, or feeling completely overwhelmed, your body may have been signalling the shift for quite some time.

Learning to catch those signals earlier gives you something incredibly valuable:

Choice.

You can pause. Gather information. Regulate. Notice what's happening around you. Consider the relational impact. And choose how you want to respond.

That's the power of Body Intelligence.

BQ is the bridge between knowing and doing.

You can understand your patterns intellectually and still find yourself repeating them. You can know you need a boundary and still struggle to say no. You can understand that stress is affecting you and still feel hijacked by it. You can know what you should do and still not be able to access it in the moment.

Insight matters. But insight alone doesn't create embodied change.

BQ helps bring awareness out of your head and into your lived experience, so that what you know can actually become something you do.

PRACTICAL SHIFTS

What can developing your BQ help you do?

bq-connection-v1y-7Zcg.jpg

Catch stress earlier

Recognize the physical signals that can precede overwhelm, reactivity, shutdown, or exhaustion.

Build greater self-awareness

Understand your patterns, physical cues, responses, and habits with more curiosity and less judgment.

Develop discernment

Learn to distinguish between useful information, familiar protective patterns, and automatic reactions.

Respond instead of automatically reacting

Create more space between what happens and what you do next.

Communicate with greater presence

Become more aware of how your body, voice, posture, and energy affect the people around you.

Navigate relationships differently

Notice the two way impact happening between you and others, and use that awareness to create healthier connection and boundaries.

Turn insight into action

Use embodied practices to experiment with new ways of responding rather than simply thinking about change.

Build self-trust

Become more familiar with your own signals, patterns, needs, and choices so you can navigate life with greater confidence and clarity.

IN YOUR LIVED EXPERIENCE

What does “embodied” actually mean?

bq-movement-CA4_nWaA.jpg

You may have heard the word embodiment and wondered what it means.

Simply put, embodiment is about how you experience and move through the world in your body.

It's your breath. Your posture. Your habitual movements. Your facial expressions. Your energy. Your sensory experience. Your presence.

It's not just knowing what you think. It's noticing how you are.

And because your body is part of every interaction you have, your embodiment also influences how other people experience you.

And because your body is part of every interaction you have, your embodiment also influences how other people experience you.

This matters in leadership.
In relationships. In communication. In boundaries. In confidence.

And especially in moments when the pressure is on.

From unconscious patterns to conscious choice.

Most of us have developed ways of responding that once made sense.

We brace. We push through. We withdraw. We people-please. We over-explain. We go quiet. We take control. We keep going long after our body has asked us to stop.

These patterns can become so familiar that they feel like “just who I am.”

BQ helps bring those patterns into awareness.

Not so you can criticize yourself for having them.

So you can understand them.

Work with them.

And eventually, choose something different.

That's the heart of Body Intelligence.

Not perfection. Not constant calm. Not trusting every gut feeling without question.

But developing the awareness, discernment, and practical skills to meet yourself, and the moment you're in, with greater choice.

Curious about your own BQ?

You don't need to know anything about embodiment to begin. Start by becoming curious about your own signals.
